Utilizing the calming effect of nature, Common Grounds, a community garden serving Ocean County, has been active since 2021 and has welcomed thousands of visitors. The garden cultivates a lasting sense of belonging and togetherness in a culturally diverse region.
Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to join us as we continue to develop the land so graciously donated by Lakewood Township into a place of beauty and connection. To encourage true community building, there are no private plots in the garden; all produce belongs to the community as a whole and is grown collectively.
The garden is open to the public every day during daylight hours. Visitors are welcome to harvest any produce that is ready for picking by following posted signage.
Common Grounds was built and sustained through the generous donations of local businesses and individuals.
Please let us know if you or your business would be interested in helping sustain and grow this long-standing community initiative.
This program is made possible in part by funds administered by the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
